Shelana Hodge lives, studies and works in London. Her practice is a personal expression and exploration of the psyche. The works consist of the abstract interpretation of idiosyncracies of human behaviour brought about through ethnographic histories produced by the lasting cultural, social and psychological effects of the Jim Crow Period especially pertaining to the systematic breakdown of community and family.

Many of the works are images and forms moulded by the decisions of the past and created by an accumulation of judgement, materials, layering and trace, whilst considering support and structure which encompassing its own history.
